Obituary

Lee Florian Van Sloun, age 71, of Chaska, MN, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at his home.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010, 11:00 AM at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 218 W. 2nd St., Chaska, with Father Paul Jarvis celebrating. The family will receive friends 9-11 AM at the church on Saturday. The inurnment will be at Guardian Angels Catholic Cemetery, Chaska.

Lee was born July 25, 1939 in Chaska, MN, to Florian and Esther (Diethelm) Van Sloun, the 2nd youngest of 13 children. He was baptized and confirmed at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, and also a 1957 graduate of its parochial school. On May 22, 1971 Lee married Mary Ebert at St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Bonifacious, MN. They had two children. Lee was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church, and the Chaska American Legion Post #57. He retired from Metropolitan Waste Control after 28 years of employment. He loved judge, cop, and medical examiner television shows, and enjoyed John Deere tractors and thrashing machines. Memorials may be given to Guardian Angels Catholic Church.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, George, Lou, Giles, and Robert, sisters, Jane Doll, Grace Heideman, and Joyce Quinn.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter, Merilee, of Mayer; son, Joel, of Anchorage, AK; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark, of Minnetonka, Bill, of Chaska, Rolandis Van Sloun, of Atlanta, GA, Kathleen Van Sloun, of Glen Lake, Clarice Van Sloun, of Chaska; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan Dressen, of Waconia, Madge (Harold) Olson, of New Prague, Molly (Eugene) Loberg, of Shakopee; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joan (Paul) Geyen, of Waconia, Kathleen (Otto) Lueck, of Warba, Tom (Dona) Ebert, Dan (Debbie) Ebert, Roger Ebert, and Tony Ebert, all of St. Bonifacious; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements were with the Bertas Funeral Home of Chaska, MN.[1]

Lee served in the Army during the Korean war.
